Natural disasters

In this project I analyse deeply the most destructive natural disasters happening in the US over the last decades. The main objective is to understand patterns and possible changes over time providing a resourceful foundation for discussion or further research. On a practical side I showcase the whole process of a data visualisation project using JavaScript for data cleaning, EDA and the final dynamic visualisations with data provided by NCEI.

Learnings
I learned to use JavaScript instead of R for the whole data analysis and cleaning process. I learnt a complete new library called GASP for animation and web design.

Challenges

It was easy To design and code the visualisations. Building a story-based sequence as well as connecting the visualisations in one webpage challenged me.
